Radicel·la
A proposal with roots, eager to explore new paths.
Radicel·la is a young contemporary roots dance company made up of four performers from different Catalan and Balearic traditional dance groups. We met in 2023 at the Viver of the Programa d’Impuls a la Dansa d’Arrel, a programme supporting roots dance in Catalonia, and decided to keep dancing, researching and creating together.
We work through collective research, play and the reinterpretation of choreographic heritage. We see tradition as something alive, transformative and constantly evolving, and we look for our own language connecting roots dance with contemporary performance practice.
We are permanent residents at La Unió Santcugatenca.
HistoryA radicel·la is a rootlet: the last, finest branchings of a root — the ones that keep growing. The geminated L (l·l), a symbol of the Catalan language, sits at the centre of our logo: symmetry and rhythm that evoke choreographic gesture and a shared pulse.
